¼” polymer cement stampings are our most popular application. Until now, obtaining the
look and feel of stone, slate or tile in a concrete surface required pouring a new concrete
slab and stamping the freshly poured concrete with embossing tools. This may be the
ideal application for new concrete pours, but what about existing concrete surfaces?
Thin stamped overlays are the answer. We apply a 1/4" to 3/8" layer of polymer cement
over existing concrete surfaces, then stamp, and scribe or carve the material to create
the permanent and realistic look of mortared flagstone, slate tile, or mortar-less slate
slabs. With decreased costs and increased versatility and beauty, you don’t have to pay
for real stone or tile to achieve the rich luxurious look your property demands.
Thin Stamped Overlay
Sprayed/ Troweled Overlay
Sprayed overlays, also called splatter textures, are traditional decorative resurfacing
designs and textures. The term refers to colored polymer-modified concrete, applied
with an air-powered hopper gun, usually over a stencil or fiber tape. This is later
removed to reveal a pattern. These finishes are more commonly applied to exterior
concrete surfaces for added beauty, increased slip-resistance and durability. Splatter
textures are more creative finishes and useful when more slip resistance is necessary
and when a tile or brick emulation is desired. Any color can be used with stenciling and
fiber taping and we can match almost any design. Troweled overlays are also a great
option for creative finishes or when a slate tile emulation is desired.

These beautiful interior applications may include extremely smooth or slightly textured
finishes in virtually limitless color and design combinations. Commercial grade 100%
solids epoxy or aliphatic urethane systems ensure high traffic wearability.
You've probably seen these acid stained applications in upscale shopping malls,
offices, restaurants, retail spaces, casinos, and residences in place of conventional
tile, terrazzo, quarry, etc. Until now, staining existing concrete with such exquisite
results depended on the condition of the concrete to be stained. With thin stained
overlays, a few thin layers of polymer concrete provides a new pallet for acid staining,
making it possible to get perfect results on old worn concrete surfaces or wood
sub-floors.*
* A metal lath system is utilized over wood; 3/4" sub flooring on suitable 16" centers is required.
Thin Stained Overlay

Acid staining concrete chemically & permanently alters the color of concrete while
naturally providing mottling and color variance to provide beautiful aged-look finishes.
Unlike overlays, which completely cover existing concrete, acid staining is translucent and
will provide rich color. However, it will not cover any existing stains, pitting or scarred
areas of the cement. This process is the least expensive of decorative options, but
requires a more pristine surface if a more pristine finish is desired. Yes, ugly stained and
pitted garage floors can be brought to life with acid stain! The process will blend in oil
stains and discoloration and provide a great looking finish that will hide dirt, prevent salt
damage, and be easy to clean and easy to look at. Since a garage floor isn't a beautiful
interior floor or retail space - those spaces require a clean smooth slab if acid stained
concrete is the finish of choice. The concrete preparation process involves either the
chemical stripping of glue's or mastic, or mechanical grinding or shot blasting. This
process will determine whether an acid stain or a thin stained overlay is the best finish to
achieve elegant interior flooring suitable for the finest environments. Typically, if a surface
can be cleaned without abrading the surface or chemically treated, it can be acid stained.
If grinding, scarification, or shot blasting is required, a overlay is the best bet so the
grind/blast marks are hidden.
